Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics (APG)

The Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Genetics (APG) is comitted to providing innovative medical instruction and cross-disciplinary expertise in biomedical research.

APG faculty have been appointed to leadership roles in curriculum development and teaching across the pre-clerkship years of the School of Medicine's Molecules to Military Medicine curriculum. Our faculty serve as course directors, instructors, and mentors for the graduate student interdisciplinary programs in Biomedical Sciences & Public Health, with specific expertise in the Neuroscience Program and the Molecular and Cell Biology Program.

APG faculty have wide-ranging basic and translational science research interests related to neurodegenerative and cardiopulmonary diseases, traumatic brain injury and chronic pain. Our investigators maintain active collaborations with the National Institues on Health, as well as other federal, academic, and commercial partners. APG faculty and staff are deeply integrated in the military health system's efforts to develop new strategies to protect our service members in the support of the Department of Defense and the Nation.
