The Collaborative Health Initiative Research Program (CHIRP) is a precision medicine-based collaborative effort between the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Department of Defense (DOD).

CHIRP is based at Uniformed Services University (USU), on the campus shared with the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).

OUR MISSION

The goal of the NIH/DOD collaborative initiative is to transform patient care by harnessing genomics, supercomputers, and bioinformatics. The medical outcome:  to predict and pre-empt disease, mitigate and repair traumatic injury, optimize performance and resilience, and generate novel personalized therapeutic options that impact both civilian and military lives.

OUR TEAM

The CHIRP team is committed to delivering genome-based information which, when coordinated with clinical information, provides the basis for actionable personalized medicine.
