John E. McManigle MD, FACP Col (Ret) USAF, MC is USU LEAD Director of Curriculum. In this role, Dr. McManigle provides oversight of the curriculum to assure consistency with overall School of Medicine, Graduate School of Nursing and Post-Graduate Dental College expectations and curricular goals and objectives. In addition, he brings his experience as a retired Air Force Medical Corps officer to bring service- relevant examples and expectations to classroom discussions.

Dr. John McManigle is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, and Jefferson Medical College. He entered the United States Air Force Medical Corps in 1980 and completed Internal Medicine training at USAF Medical Center Keesler. Dr. McManigle was selected to serve as Chief of Residents and then assigned to RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. At RAF Lakenheath, he served as a Staff Internist; Director, Cardiopulmonary Services; Chief, Allergy Immunization Clinic; and Primary Member of the Air Transportable Hospital.  Dr. McManigle then pursued further specialty training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Dr. McManigle later served as Chair, Department of Internal Medicine, Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base, MD. Dr. McManigle has served a variety of roles at USU, to include faculty member, course director, Assistant Dean of Clinical Sciences, Deputy Dean, and Acting Dean. In addition, he has served on numerous high level committees including Admissions, Executive Curriculum, Student Promotion, Graduate Education, Middle States, and LCME Executive Committees.
