Dr. Neumann is currently the Acting Director of Radiology and Imaging Sciences and Chief of the Nuclear Medicine section at the NIH Clinical Center.  He received his medical degree from Yale University and completed residencies in anatomic pathology and nuclear medicine at Yale-New Haven hospital.  His research interest has focused on the radiobiology of radionuclides in cancer.  In addition to his Clinical Center duties, Dr. Neumann has served as a senior policy analyst for the White House Advisory Committee on Human Radiation Experiments and has also served as a clinical professor of diagnostic radiology at George Washington University.
