The purpose of the Faye Glenn Abdellah Center for Military and Federal Health Care Research is to create a vigorous research environment that promotes research and scholarship among faculty and students. The Center provides multiple levels of support from the processing of grant applications to seminars in research development.
The Center is developing mechanisms for securing research support for faculty and student scholarship relevant to the military, the public health service and other federal health systems. The Center augments faculty and student scholarship activities such as publishing in refereed journals and presenting at local, regional, national, and international conferences. A main objective of the Center is to increase funding to support faculty and student research.
The Center employs a multi-faceted approach to ensure success - discussing research ideas and the development of ideas and arguments; shaping methodology; selection of instruments; providing statistical consulting; preparing budgets; locating funding sources; obtaining outside peer review; providing editing; ensuring grants conform with agency guidelines; shepherding grants through the USU approval process; monitoring applications that require Institutional Review Board approval; monitoring other assurances as needed; and submitting interim and progress reports. The Center staff manages all aspects of intramural and extramural grants.
