How to Apply
AMCAS
- Students MUST apply to the School of Medicine through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). Applications sent directly to USU will not be considered
- Use AMCAS USU School of Medicine designation code :821
- AMCAS submission window June 1- November 1
- USU uses a rolling admissions process, applying early is to your benefit even if you are taking the summer or fall MCAT
Official Transcripts
- After completing the AMCAS web application, official transcripts must be submitted to AMCAS from all of the colleges or universities attended for verification of academic records
- Failure to complete this step in a timely manner will delay the processing of an individual's application
Premedical Committee Letter
- A premedical committee letter from the program attended is required
- If you are unable to obtain a premedical committee letter:
- Write a letter stating the reason a composite premedical committee reference letter was not available and include it in your supplemental application materials
- Include three individual faculty recommendation letters
Clinical Letter of Recommendation
- A letter of recommendation from a clinical supervisor is required
- Letters CANNOT be from an applicant's relative regardless of the relative's professional status
- Letters should provide in-depth information on the character, personality and attributes of the candidate and elaborate on any relevant major events and/or achievements
- Letters may be submitted through AMCAS Letter Writer service
- Letters included in a premedical committee packet or compilation packet do not need to be submitted to AMCAS separately.
- If you are unable to obtain a letter of recommendation from a clinical supervisor:
- Write a letter stating the reason a a letter of recommendation from a clinical supervisor was not available and include it in your supplemental application materials
Submit your Supplemental Application
- Once AMCAS informs the Admissions Office that you have applied to USUHS, an email will be sent requesting your Supplemental Application
- Before submitting the Supplemental Application, please do a thorough review of all instructions and attachments on the Supplemental Application Website
- Supplemental Applications must be returned within 21 days from the date of the email notification
- Letters of Recommendation should be submitted as soon as possible but will NOT count against the Supplemental Application deadline
- There is no fee for processing your Supplemental Application
