Biography

Dr. Justin Hefley is the Assistant Site Director for the Phase II Nurse Anesthesia Program at US Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Dr. Hefley was commissioned in the Navy in 2006 after completing his BSN at East Central University in Oklahoma. His first assignment was as a Mother-Infant nurse at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. After transitioning to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and eventually to the Intensive Care Unit, he completed a rigorous course of study at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences where he earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in 2016. His first years as a nurse anesthetist were spent at United States Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Chief CRNA. Dr. Hefley’s research interests include postoperative nausea and vomiting, auricular acupuncture, Enhanced Recovery after Surgery protocols and implementation of evidence-based medicine.
