Biography
Upon graduating Nursing school, he entered active service and was stationed at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA, assigned as staff nurse on the inpatient pediatric ward and emergency medicine department. From 2009-2010, he was deployed to the Expeditionary Medical Facility, Camp Lemonnier Djibouti, Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terror. In 2010, he reported to Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL where he served as staff nurse in the emergency medicine department and intensive care unit. LCDR Rucker graduated the Uniformed Services University Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing Nurse Anesthesia Program with a Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2016. He served his utilization tour as a staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth until 2018.
LCDR Rucker is certified by the National Board of Certification & Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists. He is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and the Humanitarian Service Medal. He currently resides in Chesapeake, VA with his wife and children.
