Biography

After graduating with Academic Distinction from the USAF Academy in 1992, Col Kim started his military career as a Distinguished Graduate of the Aerospace Physiologist course. During this assignment at Offutt AFB, NE, he became interested in medicine and earned his MD from USUHS, graduating as the top Family Medicine student. He completed his Family Medicine residency as Chief Resident at Travis AFB, CA. After serving in Family Medicince and Flight Surgeon assignments, he continued his medical training by completing an Emergency Medicine residency at WPAFB, OH. He has served in Operational billets as a Flight Surgeon to two different Fighter Squadrons, has been the medical examiner on multiple aircraft Safety Investigation Boards and Accident Investigation Boards, and has served on multiple humanitarian/disaster relief engagements to the Arctic, Central America, Africa, as well as Indonesia for the 2004 tsunami relief effort. His assignments include: Offutt AFB (Nebraska), Travis AFB (California), Osan AB (Korea), Elmendorf AFB (Alaska), WPAFB (Ohio), Landstuhl Medical Center (Germany).
