Education

Col (Dr.) Ortiz completed a bachelor in biology, UPR, in 1993, and graduated from medical school in 1997. He completed a rotatory internship in 1998, followed by a residency in Family Medicine, graduated in 2002. After his commission in the Air Force in 2003, he graduated from the flight surgeon school, currently practicing as a Chief Flight Surgeon. He graduated from Air War College in 2013. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine, and he is a Certified Physician Executive.

Biography

Col Ortiz is a graduated USAF Squadron Commander and Deputy Group Commander. He started an academic pathway in 2006 as the Director of Aerospace Medicine for SOUTHCOM; where he delivered several medical courses and field practicum throughout the Western Hemisphere. He provided multiple lectures reaching 800+ medical professionals in 17 countries. His lectures were specialized in Aerospace Medicine, Combat Medicine, Force Health Protection, Patient movement and Humanitarian disaster response. He is an International Health Specialist with a vast experience in Global Health engagements. He is a well-trained military office with an extensive background in Humanitarian Disaster Response, Special Operations, and Public Health Emergency. He has been deployed several times to support Joint Operations in different geographical areas.
