Biosafety Committee

The mission of the Institutional BioSafety Committee (IBC) is to review the use of potentially pathogenic microorganisms and organisms containing recombinant DNA (rDNA) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences to ensure that their use conforms to the appropriate institutional, and regulatory standards. To ensure the safe handling of these organisms, the University requires compliance with the NIH Guidelines, the rules of 42 CFR 72 & 73, and the recommendations in the Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL).  Compliance with all other applicable federal, state, and local regulations is also required.
