Office Walk-in Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (except on IRB meeting dates)
The HRPPO is responsible for the implementation of the terms of the DOD Assurance for the Protection of Human Research Subjects and serves as the custodian of the DHHS Federal Wide Assurance (FWA) at USU. HRPPO is operationally within the Office of Regulatory Compliance under the Office of the Vice President of Research (VPR).
The Human Research Protections Program Office supports the USU research community conduct human subjects research in accordance with applicable regulatory and ethical standards. The HRPPO operational processes are primarily dedicated, but not limited, to the administrative support and related activities of the two USU IRBs.
The HRPPO provides the following services:
- Provide training, information and implementation of ethical principles, guidance, instructions and regulations concerning the protection of humans as participants in research studies conducted by USU faculty, staff and students.
- Provide administrative support for USU IRB I and Infectious Disease IRB.
- Review and/or concur with submissions pertaining to non-human subjects research determinations and research determined to be exempt from IRB requirements by the Exempt Determination Official (EDO).
- Conduct both internal and external inspections or audits of human research activities for protocols approved by the IRB.
