Mil Med Student Saves His Own Life

Military Medical StudentMilitary Medical Student Saves His Own Life with Combat Medical Skills Training

Army 2nd Lt. Michael Polmear, a second-year medical student at the Uniformed Services University (USU), didn’t know that he was in imminent danger during a climb in Grand Teton National Park; he didn’t know that without warning, a huge boulder would crush his left arm, causing upper arm bone protrusion through his skin, profuse bleeding, & the loss of sensation in his left hand. Despite this, Polmear & his wife sprang into action as he remained calm & utilized the skills he’d acquired at USU to stabilize his wound and communicate with the Jenny Lake rescue team.
