School of Medicine Curriculum

Dr. Neil Grunberg presented “Leaders, Managers, Followers” to the Class of 2020 on 12 September 2017.

Dr. John McManigle and Ms. Erin Barry presented “Self-Assessment and Peer Support” to the Class of 2020 on 25 August 2017. Discussion groups were led by Dr. McManigle, Ms. Barry, and Ms. Hannah Kleber.

The LEAD Team presented ‘Introduction to Leadership” to the Class of 2021 on 21 August 2017.

Dr. John McManigle presented “Emotional Intelligence” lecture and small group session to the Class of 2020 on 8 May 2017.

University Activity

Dr. Neil Grunberg presented “Team Building” to incoming PhD students on 17 August 2017.

Dr. John McManigle will serve as facilitator for the inaugural Reflective Practice Curriculum for Walter Reed National Military Medicine Internal Medicine interns and residents.

Dr. John McManigle served as volunteer faculty for Preventive Medicine and Biometrics graduate course, Health Risk Communication (PMO 599), 16 May 2017.

Dr. John McManigle served as Judge for 2017 Medical Student Poster competition held during Research Week.

Dr. John McManigle served as a Class of 2018 small group facilitator for Reflective Practice 201 'Perspective' Discussion on 22 February 2017.

Dr. Grunberg, Dr. McManigle, Dr. Schoomaker and Ms. Kleber presented “Leader and Leadership Development for NCO’s” to a group of Non-Commissioned Officers at USUHS on 16 February 2017.

Dr. John McManigle served as Class of 2020 small group facilitator for Brigade Officer Professional Development 'Ethics' Discussion on 10 February 2017.

Dr. John McManigle named a Charter Member of the Curriculum 2027 Task Force on 2 February 2017.

LEAD Team was involved in the Antietam Battlefield Exercise on 18 August 2016.

Dr. John McManigle presented the LEAD Model and the idea for LEAD in Clerkship to the Executive Curriculum Committee on 6 July 2016.

Hannah Kleber presented a poster on the FourCe-PITO Framework for the USUHS Education day on 8 June 2016.

Erin Barry, Dr. Neil E. Grunberg and Hannah Kleber connected with the Long-Term Career Outcome Study (LTCOS) to join Leadership research and other research done by the LTCOS team on May 20 2016.

Dr. John McManigle presented the LEAD model to the Basic Science Department Chairs on 19 May 2016.

Dr. John McManigle presented the LEAD model to the Clinical Chairs on 7 April 2016.

Dr. John McManigle presented the LEAD model for the first time to the Executive Curriculum Committee regarding integrating LEAD content into the Clerkship for the medical school students on April 4 2016. 

National Activity

Drs. Neil Grunberg, John McManigle, and Eric Schoomaker met with BG (ret) Tom Kolditz, PhD, of Rice University to discuss leadership education programs on 8 September 2017.

Dr. Neil Grunberg and Ms. Erin Barry discussed confidence and leadership with the Presidential Leadership Scholars Women and Leadership Group on 29 August 2017.

The LEAD Team met with Linda Williams of WVU to discuss Leadership Education and Development on 23 August 2017.

Dr. John McManigle participated in the University of South Florida / Lehigh Valley Health Network Emotional Intelligence Faculty Workshop 22 - 23 May 2017.

Dr. Eric Schoomaker presented at the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS) 30 November 2016.

Dr. Neil E. Grunberg led two “Gender and Leadership” sessions with members of the Presidential Leadership Scholars on 19 January and 23 January 2017.
