Biography
Col Erickson is the Director of Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences' (USU) Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE). Col Erickson received her commission through the Health Professionals Scholarship Program in 1999. She attended the University of Minnesota Medical School and Family Medicine residency training at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, California, serving as Chief Resident 2005-2006. Subsequent assignments included overseas assignments in Turkey and Germany, as well as serving as Senior Medical Officer and Chief of Women’s Affairs on Provincial Reconstruction Team Zabul, Afghanistan in 2009-2010. Extensive past global health work in Asia and Africa prior to and during military service contributed to the achievement of the Air Force International Health Specialist (IHS) Special Experience Identifier and assignment to the 13th Air Force / Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) IHS team in 2011. From October 2012 to July 2013 she was the first medical officer to serve on the PACAF Commander’s Action Group as the Strategic Affairs Officer. In July 2013 she became the first Air Force IHS assigned to the US Pacific Command (USPACOM) Surgeon’s Office (J07). From 2013-2016 she served as the Chief of Strategic Health Engagement Operations, conducting strategic planning for USPACOM Health Theater Security Cooperation throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. From 2016-2018, she completed residency training in General Preventive Medicine at USU, earning a Master of Public Health degree with a Global Health concentration. She was Director of Center Operations at USU's CGHE from 2018-2019. Col Erickson served at US European Command (USEUCOM) from 2019-2021, filling roles of Chief of Global Health Engagement, Deputy Command Surgeon, and Acting Command Surgeon. Her leadership greatly contributed to the command's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She was Chief, Global Health Engagement Branch and International Health Specialist Program, for the Air Force Medical Agency from 2021-2024. Col Erickson was deployed to Wiesbaden, Germany in support of the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U) from April to October 2024, serving as the SAG-U Command Surgeon and she was the first Medical Advisor of NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU).
