Biography

Dr. Jill Schramm is a nationally recognized diabetes and chronic disease speaker on the topics of innovative approaches to improving care of all diabetics. Her passions lie in providing culturally sensitive and innovative care models in remote areas such as American Samoa and Lanai in Hawaii. Her work in American Samoa has also focus on preparing military nurse practitioners in austere settings to develop a medically ready force and enhance operational readiness. Dr Schramm is both a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Manager (BC-ADM). Her national diabetes work has included positions on the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE); 2016 national conference planner, 2017-present committee member, AADE research team and technology team, 2018 Virginia chapter of AADE conference, 2018 nurse planner and 2019 co-chair. She holds a joint faculty position at USUHS in the Graduate School of Nursing and the School of Medicine. She maintains her clinical practice in the National Capital Region (Walter Reed) Endocrinology Clinic. Dr Schramm was also the Chief of the Fort Carson, CO Disease Management Clinic from 2009-2016, greatly expanding diabetes services in the Colorado Springs Military Health System, to include development of numerous innovation with diabetes technology and telemedicine.
