Biography

Kenneth E. Christensen is the Medical Informatics Consultant for the Department of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Christensen is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and former Clerkship Director of the USU Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Christensen received his B.S. in Biological Sciences from Santa Clara University and his M.D. from USU. After completing his internship and residency at David Grant Medical Center in Travis Air Force Base, California, he was selected Chief Resident followed by assignment as faculty teaching staff at Travis AFB.

After arriving at the University in 1996, he served as Site Director at Malcolm Grow U.S. Air Force Medical Center and Clerkship Director in the USU Department of Pediatrics. He is a past delegate to the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) and the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) from USU. As USU faculty, he is credited with the original development, digitization, and deployment of websites for USU Pediatric Education Section and the Department of Pediatrics. His technical skills and efforts directly contributed to the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) teaching award for the USU Pediatric Education Section in 2002.

In 2011, after 21 years of military service, he retired from the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel, transitioning from his military career and choosing to remain as Medical Informatics Consultant for the USU Department of Pediatrics. Clinically, he is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and practices as a Neonatal Hospitalist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Divisions of Neonatal & Developmental Medicine and Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Stanford University, California.
