Biography

MAJ Samantha E. Bazan, DNP, FNP-C is a board certified family nurse practitioner. For more than 15 years, MAJ Bazan has served as an active duty Army Nurse Corps (ANC) officer. She originally received her commission through the Reserve' Officer Training Corps (ROTC) after completing her BSN in 2004 at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Prior to becoming an FNP, MAJ Bazan had a diverse background in nursing.

MAJ Bazan started her nursing career as a medical-surgical nurse at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. She then deployed with the 10th Combat Support Hospital working in the ICU in Baghdad, Iraq. Returning to Fort Sill, she spent time in the ER and went to the 66B, Army Public Health Nurse course. As a public health nurse, MAJ Bazan had oversight of the Department of Public Health at Fort Sill, Oklahoma during the H1N1 flu outbreak. While serving as the Chief of Epidemiology at Fort Riley, Kansas, she spearheaded the first ever, "Drive-thru" flu campaign on the post. Her passion for public health and outbreak management was the driving force in obtaining a Master of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Disaster Management. She went on to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in 2016. As an FNP, she has provided care to our military members and their families at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While at Fort Bragg, she served as the Clinical Nurse, Officer in Charge of the Family Medicine Residency Clinic and Officer in Charge at Joel Health Clinic.

MAJ Bazan is currently assigned to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Texas, as the Phase II Site Director and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing, Uniformed Sciences University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland.

MAJ Bazan's honors and awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3) and Army Achievement Medal

MAJ Bazan is married to another service member and has three amazing kids who keep her busy and on her toes. She loves to travel and explore.
