Biography

Dr. Zuerlein serves as a Senior Advisor on Global Health Engagement at the Uniformed Services University’s Center for Global Health Engagement. In this role he provides support/assistance to the US Central Command, Command Surgeon’s Office Global Health Engagement Program; he leads the Medical Plans and Logistics line of effort for CGHE’s African Peacekeeping Rapid Response Partnership – Medical, provides instruction and facilitation for Education and Training efforts, and advice and assistance to Assessment, Monitoring, and Evaluation, and other CGHE efforts. Previous to this current role, Dr. Zuerlein fulfilled a variety of Program Management roles within CGHE and for the Center for Disaster and Humanitarian Assistance Medicine: Defense Medical Language Initiative, Cooperative Biological Engagement Program, African Disaster Preparedness Program, and the Training and Professional Development Division. For academic research purposes, his specific areas of interest are the various structures, processes, and relationships that enable the conduct of engagement activities. Dr. Zuerlein served 22 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the US Air Force to include time as the Medical Security Cooperation lead for the US Central Command. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming, his Masters in Health Services Administration from the Army-Baylor University, and his Doctorate in Health Policy and Management from the University of South Florida.
