Biography
Lt Col Carr is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and Assistant Professor with the Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD.Lt Col Carr was commissioned after receiving a 4-year Air Force ROTC scholarship and completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Grambling State University in 1999. Lt Col Carr received her Master of Science in Nursing from the Uniformed Services University and completed her nurse anesthesia training in 2010. She received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Duke University in 2019.
In 2005, Lt Col Carr deployed to Baghdad International Airport and was the sole ICU nurse supporting over 30,000 coalition forces. As a CRNA, Lt Col Carr has deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan 3 times, from Dec 2011-May 2012, Dec 2013-May 2014 and Oct 2015-April 2016.
Since graduating from anesthesia training, Lt Col Carr has had a passion for educating nursing students. She was appointed Senior Clinical Instructor at San Antonio Military Medical Center with the US Army Graduate Program in Nurse Anesthesia. Additionally, she served as the the Interim Phase 2 Site Director.
Lt Col Carr’s major military awards in include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Commendation Medal (3), Achievement Medal (3), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 stars) and Korean Defense Service Medal.
