Biography

LTC Tommy Thompson, DnP, FNP-C is a certified family nurse practitioner. He is originally from Texas and jointed the U.S. Army in 1998 as a direct commission. He served in the Army Reserve for 7 years during which time he was mobilized twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. LTC Thompson was honorably discharged from the Reserve in 2007. In 2008 he accept a direct commission as a CPT in U.S. Army on Active Duty. He was assigned as an ICU Nurse at Fort Sill and served two years. While there he was given the responsibility of OIC over the Same Day Surgery Unit.

In 2010 he was assigned to the 86th Combat Support Hospital and deployed to Baghdad Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for one year. Following this assignment he accepted an LTHET appointment as a DNP student at the Uniformed Services University from 2012-2015. He graduated with is DNP in May 2015 and was subsequently assigned to Fort Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital. After spending one year in the Family Medicine Clinic he was promoted to Chief, Primary Care Clinics over Pediatrics, Family Practice and Internal Medicine. Most recently he accepted the position of Phase II Site Director at Madigan Army Medical Center.

LTC Thompson's honors and awards are as follows: Meritorious Service Medical (3), Army Commendation Medal (2), and Army Achievement Medal (2).
