THE AVS MISSION AND VISION

The Office of the Assistant Vice President, Health & Safety (AVS) Mission and Vision is an evolving process providing the framework of health & safety disciplines required to achieve, support, and maintain agency compliance with federal and state policies. We promote the evolution of a safety philosophy and culture to support USU.

AVS is composed of four Divisions; Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Radiation Safety Division (RSD), Industrial Hygiene & Environmental Division (IHE), Occupational Health & Pharmacy Supply Center (OCC). Each division has a role in providing USU with health & safety resources.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY DIVISION

Environmental Health & Safety Division (EHS) supports and protects the health and safety of USU members through professional guidance, educational provisions, and advanced resources; promotes and reinforces a philosophy of self-governance and professional accountability; and empowers USU members to seamlessly integrate and sustain a safety philosophy and culture.

RADIATION SAFETY DIVISION

Radiation Safety Division (RSD) oversees the development, implementation, and support of a comprehensive Radiation Safety Program in compliance with governmental policies; enforces directives of the USU Radiation Safety Committee (RSC); and oversees the safe and legal use of radioactive sources and equipment.

INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE & ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION

Industrial Hygiene & Environmental Division (IHE) supports USU mission effectiveness through real-time investigative research, environmental assessments, and health-risk management to affect and/or mitigate issues in correlation to USU member health, performance, and productivity; and delivers specialized services, technical guidance, and expertise of federal and state regulatory IHE policies for the maintenance and protection of USU members and assets.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH DIVISION & PHARMACY SUPPLY CENTER

Occupational Health Division (OCC) program develops, implements, and supports a comprehensive OCC program, fostering awareness of occupational health issues, and promoting healthy lifestyles through proven wellness programs.
