TSNRP Research and ebp awards
TSNRP supports research on operational or deployment health topics. TSNRP issues two calls for proposals each year. TSNRP funds nurses in all phases of their research careers. Active duty military nurses from the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force are eligible to apply for all awards.
TSNRP has offered the following award categories:
- Graduate Research Award
- Graduate Evidence-Based Practice Award
- Novice Research Award
- Novice Evidence-Based Practice Award
- High Priority Award
- Evidence-Based Practice Award
- Initial Research Award
- Follow-on Research Award
All award categories are not accepted at every call. Award categories are subject to change. Please refer to the current FOA for the most accurate descriptions and eligibility requirements for each award category.
The FY26 A Call is now open. Letters of Intent for the Initial Research Award and Follow-on Research Award are due 15 September 2025. If proposal is approved, full applications are due 15 November. The FY26 Rapid High Priority Call is now open. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis while funds are available. This funding opportunity is limited to distinct areas of high priority research and evidence-based practice for operational military nursing for projects that can be rapidly deployed on the battlefield, and/or operational readiness of the medical command units. Graduate Award applications are considered on a rolling basis, pending available funding. Please contact the Grants Management Team at tsnrp@usuhs.edu to inquire about submission of a Graduate Award application. Graduate Awards do not require a Letter of Intent.

As a DNP Graduate Student, which awards am I eligible to apply for?
Doctor of Nursing Practice graduate students are eligible to serve as the PI on Graduate EBP Awards.
Following a successful TSNRP Graduate Award, which award category should I apply under next?
Following a successful TSNRP Graduate Award, the next award progression is a Novice EBP (for DNPs or PhDs) or Novice Research Award (for PhDs).
Can a PI with a terminal degree of Doctor of Nursing Practice serve as the PI on a TSNRP Research Award (Initial Research, Follow-on Research, High Priority Research, or Novice Research)?
No, PIs on TSNRP Research Awards must hold a PhD. DNPs are eligible to serve as the PI for Evidence-Based Practice Awards.
Are there specific application templates?
Please find the templates for application on TSNRP's application portal. You do not need to request access to the portal to view or download forms. Click on the green button to view forms.
Is there a specific order for the documents?
No, documents will be uploaded into the portal individually. Be sure to label documents correctly.
Where will the Institution Cover Letter be attached?
The cover letter is now an optional document.
Is the TSNRP Summary a required document?
No, the TSNRP Summary document is no longer available. The information captured on the TSNRP Summary document is now entered directly into the application portal.
Who is required to submit a Key Personnel Percent Effort Verification form?
This information is required for all award key personnel, including mentors. A template of this form is listed on the application portal. This exact template is not required. Other templates that include the same information will be accepted.
